ITINERARY (12 DAYS/11 NIGHTS)

DAY ONE: ARRIVE BOSTON
Welcome to Boston! A complimentary transfer is provided to your hotel. Your Tour Director is at the hotel this afternoon to welcome you and answer your questions. Join us at 6 p.m. for a Welcome Drink at the hotel.

DAY TWO: BOSTON TO BAR HARBOR
After a brief orientation tour of Boston, journey north through New Hampshire and enter Maine. Stop in historic Portland before heading to Mount Desert Island and the quintessential New England seaside village of Bar Harbor. This evening feast on a traditional Maine lobster dinner.

DAY THREE: BAR HARBOR - ACADIA NATIONAL PARK - SAINT JOHN
Take in the beauty of Acadia National Park with its dramatic rocky shoreline, beaver ponds and spectacular views from the top of Cadillac Mountain. Then travel north across the border into New Brunswick, and on to Saint John, the oldest incorporated city in Canada. This evening, enjoy a three-course dinner at a local restaurant in Saint John harbor, where the Bay of Fundy meets the Saint John River.

DAY FOUR: SAINT JOHN - HALIFAX
Visit the Old City Market this morning, the oldest continuing common-law market in Canada, built in 1876 by local craftsmen. The shipbuilding influence in Saint John is reflected in the design of the market rafters which are shaped like an inverted ship's hull. Then cross the Bay of Fundy to Nova Scotia on the Princess of Acadia ferry, and continue by land to Halifax, the dynamic capital of the province.

DAY FIVE: HALIFAX
Enjoy a sightseeing tour of Halifax including the Public Gardens, waterfront and Spring Garden Road, and learn about the Halifax Explosion and the city's connection to the Titanic. Visit the Citadel National Historic Site offering superb panoramic views. This afternoon, join an included excursion to the picture-perfect village of Peggy's Cove, or enjoy time on your own in Halifax.

DAY SIX: HALIFAX - INGONISH BEACH
Leaving Halifax, continue north across the narrow Canso Strait to beautiful Cape Breton Island, jutting dramatically into the Atlantic Ocean. Travel across the interior of the island to the shores of tranquil Bras d'Or Lake. Learn about the great inventor Alexander Graham Bell at the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site before continuing to the hotel, superbly located on a promontory overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

DAY SEVEN: CABOT TRAIL & CAPE BRETON HIGHLANDS NATIONAL PARK EXCURSION
Today enjoy one of the greatest full-day adventures on this tour, travelling the full length of the Cabot Trail, one of the world's most scenic drives, offering stunning vistas of rust-coloured cliffs, deep blue ocean waters and picturesque fishing harbors. Enter Cape Breton Highlands National Park, an exceptional wilderness area where moose are often spotted among the lakes and streams.

DAY EIGHT: INGONISH BEACH - CHARLOTTETOWN
Head for charming Pictou, renowned as the "Birthplace of New Scotland" as it was here that the first wave of Scottish immigrants landed in 1773. Cross the Northumberland Strait to Prince Edward Island. Enjoy the landscape of vivid colours and rolling hills, sandy beaches and red sandstone cliffs, as you make your way to Charlottetown. This evening, select from a variety of local restaurants on your Dine-Around evening.

DAY NINE: PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND EXCURSION
Visit Founders' Hall and learn about Canada's history, then enjoy a guided walking tour of graceful Charlottetown. Head up the north shore to the wind-sculpted sand dunes, beautiful beaches and broad inlets of Prince Edward Island National Park. Take a guided tour of Green Gables, the farm house that inspired the setting for Lucy Maud Montgomery's Anne of Green Gables. This evening is at leisure; perhaps attend an optional performance of the popular musical Anne of Green Gables.

DAY TEN: CHARLOTTETOWN - ST. ANDREWS-BY-THE-SEA
This morning drive across the modern Confederation Bridge to New Brunswick and stop at the Hopewell Rocks in the Bay of Fundy to view the unusual flower-pot shaped islands. In Saint John, view the amazing Reversing Falls and continue to beautiful St. Andrews-by-the-Sea and your elegant Tudor-style resort. This evening enjoy dinner at one of the resort's amazing restaurants.

DAY ELEVEN: ST. ANDREWS-BY-THE-SEA - KENNEBUNKPORT
Back in the United States, visit Bangor and admire the cityscape, much of it listed on the National Register of Historic Places. On arrival at the delightful coastal resort of Kennebunkport, journey along the scenic Ocean Drive with stunning views of the coastline and great mansions, including the famous Bush family compound. Tonight enjoy a farewell dinner at your charming inn.

DAY TWELVE: KENNEBUNKPORT - DEPART BOSTON
Enjoy more stunning coastline and quaint coastal villages on the way to Salem, home to the infamous Salem Witch Trials. Board a narrated trolley and discover a colourful coastal city, rich in maritime heritage, historic architecture and amazing stories. The tour ends at Boston International Airport and the Insight hotel in Boston for passengers extending their stay. Please do not schedule flights before 4p.m.
